ManageMyLessons - Safety & Security
There is, understandably, a degree of concern when it comes to moving to 'The Cloud' and making the change of having all your data and information on a computer that is often in your hand or at least nearby and knowing that your data is safe as long as your computer is safe.
A move to the cloud, and to having all of your data stored in a central online location clearly has advantages, with the ease of access and not needing to have the right USB stick to hand.
Your data is actually safer and more secure when stored online, as part of software such as Manage
MyLessons than it is stored on your own computer.
We use a well known and reputable hosting provider (Rackspace) to manage our server rack.
- The servers themselves are in physically secure location with high level access control
- The server room is fitted with advanced fire management technology
- The servers sit behind an advanced firewall which is configured to ensure any unusual or suspicious activity is immediately blocked.
- Our entire database is continuously mirrored automatically to a secondary location
- The entire system is regularly backed up and transfered to servers in a different physical location
In addition to all of this, we use a Secure Socket communication between your computer and our website (HTTPS/SSL). This means that all the data is encrypted as it travels through the internet. We use the same level of encryption as all major online shopping facilities and online banking. When you are logged in to Manage
MyLessons, you will see a small padlock either at the bottom of the screen or near to the address bar - this is reassurance that data transmission is being encrypted.
